Nedlands Hobie Survey Results
Thanks all for participating in the Nedlands Survey. Please click here HCAWA Survey Results 2009 05 25 for the results of the survey.
As you can see there was a majority that would like to see a change to the racing format. 23 people responded yes to changes in the format, with 7 indicating no changes and 3 having no comment.
The actions from the results of the survey are:
1. Steve Sturgeon has kindly agreed to be the Hobie Section Captain at Nedlands Yacht Club for 2009/10 which will enable me (Aileen) to keep focused on the Hobie Nationals. Note: Steve is our representative. It does not mean he has to do all of the work.
2. A proposal has successfully been presented to NYC Regatta Committee to bring the start time of the Hobie’s forward (at the end of last season we were the last fleet taking off)
A proposal is also being prepared to go to the NYC Regatta Committee requesting a change in our racing format. The changes to the racing format would only be for a number of weeks (i.e. not every week) as we have a number of events such as short course regatta, club championship and HMAS Perth Regatta that we would keep in the same format.
The Open Cat have also requested a change to their racing format.
3. Steve Sturgeon in his new role as Hobie Section Captain is seeking feedback and assistance with the courses.
There are a couple of ways that you can do this.
The most useful way is through the forum on the Hobie Cat Association of WA website. That way everyone can see the comments and include their thoughts. As a general comment and for the forum to be productive please keep comments focused on the issues/items and not on the people.
Thoughts on the length of the course, location of marks etc are very useful conversations for Steve to assist us in moving productively forward. The discussion will make it easier for him when he goes to represent us on this item at the NYC Regatta Committee Meetings. No comments means you are happy to accept the outcome.
The other way is to email Steve on stevesturgeon@live.com.au

4. Social elements – The other aspect that is useful for us to focus on is the social elements of the fleet, so in 2009/ 2010 a number of people will have some events at their place (I haven’t tapped them on the shoulder yet) however if you would like to volunteer, before I tap you on the shoulder please send me an email aileen@achieivingsynergy.com.au or call me on 0400 406 955.
Details of the proposed courses for the two race format can be found in this proposal document. Images of the courses can be seen by following these links: The NorthWest course, SouthWest Course and the Easterly Course. Please send any feedback on the proposed course via the forum.
Thanks Aileen
